There is still time to join us for this brand-new event format!

With ideas from across this community, we are taking the best elements of conferencing and mixing them with the unique opportunities of going online. We are excited this year not just to connect, but to engage.

Meet and exchange ideas with others advancing work in this field: educators, community leaders, scientists, students, technologists, data managers, and more. Across this broad field, we know that we do science better, together.

This is the event that people in this field call home — now coming to you in your home.

Event Overview

The vast majority of CitSciVirtual content is available to access, browse, and engage with on your own time in the event platform. This includes workshop lessons, all posters, and direct access to message presenters and participants at any hour.

Beyond that, there are opportunities throughout the month for live engagement, including plenary presentations, connections with highlighted poster presenters, and hands-on workshop sessions. Weekly schedules and highlights will be posted here, and will be directly accessible to registrants through CSA Connect in the CitSciVirtual event space.

The complete live event calendar, including screen-readable and downloadable options, can be found here.

Every registrant gains free access to as many as 12 workshops, with over 60 to choose from. Workshops have rich asynchronous content for engagement at any hour, as well as live sessions (recordings will be made available).

Workshops are led by leaders and innovators in the field: some you know, and some you haven’t met yet. Go deeper with your practice by building a wide range of skill sets to support your work in the field. Any of these workshops alone would be worth the price of admission!

Valuing Full Community Engagement

This year has underscored for everyone that advancing equitable citizen science is a shared responsibility and is relevant to all of our work. As a commitment to advancing equity in this field, we are encouraging all presenters to reflect on ways their work confronts issues such as diversity, accessibility, inclusion, or other anti-bias and anti-racist practices in science.

CSA is committed to providing an equitable and inclusive virtual conference and celebrating the diverse voices in our space. CSA strives to offer events that ensure all members and participants feel welcome and comfortable sharing their insights and contributions with the larger citizen science community, and that everyone can fully and authentically engage.
