Citizen Science: Theory and Practice (CS:TP) is a leading journal in the field of citizen science, produced by the Citizen Science Association (CSA). We are looking for two Social Media Editors to increase the visibility and impact of papers in the journal. The role of Social Media Editor is a new position for the journal – it is a voluntary position, in line with the journal’s editorial team.

For these two roles, we are looking for individuals who:

• Are passionate about CS:TP’s role to advance the field of citizen science through scientific publishing and wants to support its reach and impact through social media
• Are good communicators and willing to listen and learn
• Are adaptable and have some social media experience

Responsibilities include:

• writing social media content to promote articles published in CS:TP on social media (initially X/Twitter and LinkedIn via the CSA’s official social media channels)
• coordinating with the journal Managing Editor and authors about upcoming articles
• following CSA guidelines for social media etiquette
• coordinating with other members of the team, including the Social Media Manager, and the Program Manager for CSA
• creating an evaluation plan for tracking the impact of our social media presence (e.g. using Altmetrics or other indicators)
• expand the initial social media strategy to boost CS:TP’s reach in line with the values of CSA and in light of the dynamic nature of social media platforms

This role would be suitable for an early career researcher at PhD or post-doctoral stage, or a more established researcher who has time to commit. We anticipate that it will require about two hours per week. This role will provide an opportunity to learn about the scientific publication process, work closely with others on the journal editorial board, and help make a difference in advancing the field of citizen science! We will seek a balance of skills and diversity across the two roles when making appointments.
