2017 Board Elections

Return to Blog

The CSA Governance and Nominations Committee has narrowed the pool of 23 nominees to a ballot of twelve individuals. We now turn to our members to select five individuals who will join the CSA Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning in May. We rely on Board members to shape the future of the Association by establishing policy, securing funding, and ensuring that the organization can achieve its mission (read more about Board member responsibilities here).

We have 4 outgoing Board members, and will add one new position to the board. Thus, this vote is to elect five new Board members. Of the slate of twelve candidates, the five candidates receiving the most votes will be elected to join the CSA Board. In putting together this ballot from the rich field of nominees, we have been guided by priorities needs for Board development and with an interest in reflecting diversity across the field.

The board has identified several areas of experience or expertise that are critical to enhance board membership and Association development. Those are:

  • Fundraising
  • Understanding of citizen science community needs
  • Strategic planning
  • Administration/management
  • Early stage organizational set-up
  • Financial oversight

The candidates on the 2017 ballot are listed below and their names are hyperlinked to their resumes and statements addressing two questions about the field of citizen science. Members* will receive an email containing a link to their ballot on Monday April 10th, 2017 and voting will close on Monday April 24 at 11:59 PM local time.
