The vision for Create Together Day (formerly referred to as a hackathon) has expanded to an inclusive event for any citizen science practitioners with a desire to share great ideas. Collaborate with other conference goers to create products, interfaces, or data visualizations to further your citizen science projects. Options available include creating a Zooniverse project in a day, learning how to effectively use iNaturalist, embedding free volunteer recruiting and management tools from SciStarter, capturing and visualizing location-based data using ArcGIS, creating new education and outreach materials, or discovering how to use virtual/augmented reality in citizen science projects.
Eager to work with practitioners that have a wide variety of skills? Add this event to your schedule, and join the following experts who will be on hand to help with popular tools:
- Charmel Menzel from Esri
- Laura Trouille, Brooke Simmons and Lucy Fortson from Zooniverse
- Mark SubbaRao from Adler Planetarium and head of the International Planetarium Society
- UMN’s Vicki Interrante on virtual and augmented reality tools
- not to mention you and your platform!
Bring your data, bring your devices, bring your project ideas – leave with something awesome! We’ll supply breakfast, lunch and endless coffee (or water!).
NOTE: This event is off-site at the University of Minnesota. The event fee includes transportation to and from the St. Paul RiverCentre conference venue.
