Nominations for the CSA Board are open! There are five open positions available, each with a three-year term beginning in May 2017. Nominations are due by February 10, 2017.
Self-nominations and nominations of others are encouraged. If nominating someone else, please first confirm their interest in serving if elected. You will be asked to provide contact information for the nominee as well as a brief background on their relevant experience and skills. Those nominated will be contacted for additional information (i.e., curriculum vitae or resume and statement addressing key questions about citizen science). Once that information is submitted, they will be considered for inclusion in the slate of nominees on which members of the Association will vote.

Critical Areas of Experience and Expertise Being Sought:
To understand the work involved in being a CSA board member, please read the board member job description. The board does and will continue to include representatives with a wide range of expertise. However, as our organization is still in the development phase, the current board has identified several critical areas of experience or expertise that are particularly desirable for new board members to have. Those are:
- Understanding of citizen science community needs
- Strategic planning
- Early stage organizational set-up
- Financial oversight
More Details About the Nominations Process:
Last year more than 60 people were nominated, and 12-15 were selected for the slate to be voted on individually for the open positions by the full Association membership. The nominations committee, made up of a subset of board members and working group chairs, uses a predefined set of criteria to review each candidate. At least three people review each nominee, and then meet via conference call to discuss candidates. This year’s nominations committee is set to be comprised of 9 members, in expectation of a similar number of submitted nominations.
Please contact Board Vice Chair Kris Stepenuck at email@example.com or 802-656-8504 with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your commitment to improving the Citizen Science Association by making a nomination of a candidate or candidates.
